Sue's Corrado

WASSERWERK's third project vehicle, a 1990 Corrado, is owned by club member Sue Grundy.  This project actually began several years ago.  Sue picks up the story.

"I purchased this car back in 1998, with 122,500 miles on it.  We drove it home that day with a dealer plate and it hasn’t seen the road since.  I think I drove it about 7 miles that day, pushing it a little and it was pretty amazing.  I am the second owner of this car, and it was not cared for at all by the original owner.  When purchased, it was in pretty bad condition with damage on the front – the grille was broken in half and bumper slightly damaged damage on the front of both front fenders, the right rear just above the bumper, the right rear quarter panel, and also in the left rear quarter."

"We are going to do a complete engine overhaul, body work, paint job and tune it a little to get it on the road in show condition. We had thought about putting Eaton supercharger off of a Mercedes SLK onto the engine, replacing the worn G-Lader supercharger, but decided  not to do that.  Maybe in a few years.  I recently purchased another G-Lader, seeing as though when we took apart the supercharger that was on the engine, it had some damage we thought was beyond repair.  I have a Sachs sport suspension kit which is going to be installed that will lower the car roughly 1"-1.5”.  It’s a pretty stiff kit – we had the same one on my sister’s ’96 Passat TDI and it was nice…even though my father didn’t think so.  I will be installing European headlights, new euro fog and blinker lenses. I will be installing Ate Power Discs on it, along with new pads. Hopefully I can resurrect the calipers that are on it.  I think I'm going to put Bridgestone Potenza RE730's [195/50-15] tires on it.  I have heard some good feedback regarding these tires...they seem like a good choice. I am waiting for a Rieger grille and grille spoiler combo to come – purchased through someone on eBay.  I would also like to put K&N filter on it, Neuspeed or ABD intake, sway bars, strut tower brace, 16" wheels on the car when it’s ready and when I have the money.  I think a new set of speakers are going to be needed, maybe a sub, and maybe even install a camera mount in the future."

Part 1 will include a chronology of what Sue has done on the car since 1998.
